

We currently feel unable to hold this event.
We had hoped to come back bigger and better after Covid-19, but we simply do not have enough able-bodied committee members to meet the demands of organising and physically hosting the show. For anyone interested, here is an idea of the classes we held:
CLASS I FLOWERS
Awards:
Class I Flowers, Roses, Overall: The Daphne Gill Award
Class I Flowers, Overall: Cut glass vase
Class I Flowers, Dahlias: The Bob Ashbridge Award
Comprises the following categories:
1. Rose – Single bloom, any colour.
2. 1 vase rambler, climbing or shrub; not more than 4 sprays. One variety or mixed.
3. Roses – 1 vase cluster-flowered (Floribunda); 3 stems. One variety or mixed.
4. Sweet peas – A bowl of sweet peas (to be judged for quality and all-round decorative effect).
5. Dahlias – 1 bloom in a vase; diameter above 200mm. One variety or mixed.
6. Dahlias – 3 blooms in a vase; diameter 100mm to 200mm. One variety or mixed.
7. Dahlias – 3 blooms in a vase; diameter under 100mm. One variety or mixed.
8. Gladioli – 1 spike in a vase.
9. Penstemons – 3 stems in a vase. One variety or mixed.
10. 1 vase of perennial flowers – Not more than 6 varieties.
11. A favourite flower – 1 stem in a vase. Any variety.
12. Flowering shrub – 1 woody stem in a vase. Any variety.
13. Pot plant – Flowering or fruiting (excludes orchids).
14. Pot plant – Orchid.
CLASS II FRUIT
Awards:

Comprises the following categories:
15. Apples, dessert – 5.
16. Apples, cooking – 5.
17. Pears – 3.
18. Plums – 5.
19. Dish of raspberries.
20. Collection of fruit – 3 different varieties on a plate.
CLASS III VEGETABLES
Awards:
Class III Vegetables: Keen and Hughes Trophy
Comprises the following categories:
21. Beetroot – 3.
22. Runner Beans – 7 of same type.
23. Beans, Other variety – 7 of same type.
24. Beans, Longest runner – 1.
25. Carrots – 5.
26. Onions – 5.
27. Potatoes, White – 5.
28. Potatoes, Coloured – 5.
29. Tomatoes, Small cherry – 5.
30. Tomatoes, Medium – 5.
31. Tomatoes, Other (beefsteak, plum, etc) – 3.
32. Vegetable, Marrow – 1.
33. Vegetable, Marrow, heaviest – 1.
34. Lettuce, Any variety – 1.
35. Cucumber – 1.
36. Courgettes – 3.
37. Fresh herbs in a jam jar – 5 different varieties with a card naming them.

CLASS V & VI COOKERY AND PRESERVES
Awards:
Class V & VI Cookery and Preserves: The Carter Award
Comprises the following categories:
CLASS V COOKERY
39. Date and Hazelnut Chocolate Fudge cake (See Show Programme for recipe).
40. Victoria sponge (jam filled) – icing sugared but undecorated.
41. Scones (plain) – five on a plate.
42. Flapjack, any flavour.
43. Fruit cake – Round cake tin, max 8”, 20cm.
44. Shortbread.
45. Rock cakes.
46. Cheese straws – five on a plate.
47. Bread – tin loaf, white or brown.
48. Mini Pizzas – Men Only (See Show Programme for recipe).
CLASS VI PRESERVES
49. Jam – 1 jar, any fruit.
50. Marmalade – 1 jar.
51. Fruit curd, e.g. lemon, lime, orange – 1 jar.
52. Chutney or pickled vegetables – 1 jar.
53. Homemade wine – 1 bottle.
54. Homemade fruit spirit (sloe gin or similar) – 1 bottle.
Note: Preserves should be filled to the top, labelled clearly, dated and attractively presented.
CLASS VII PAINTING
Award:
Class VII Painting – Trophy Award
Comprises the following categories:
55. Painting or drawing, any subject – Open Class, maximum of 2 entries per exhibitor.
56. Painting or drawing, any subject – Beginners who have not exhibited before, maximum of 2 entries per exhibitor.
CLASS VIII PHOTOGRAPHY
Award:
Class VIII Photography – Trophy Award
Comprises the following categories:
57. Reflection (Only 1 entry per exhibitor).
58. Black and White (Only 1 entry per exhibitor).
59. Hidden Dumbleton (Only 1 entry per exhibitor).
60. Nature (Only 1 entry per exhibitor).
Note: Classes 57 – 60 – each photograph to be mounted on card no larger than A4. Class number and exhibitor’s name to be clearly displayed on the rear of each entry.
CLASS IX HANDICRAFTS
Award:
Class IX Handicrafts – The Beryl Coney Award
61. Any handicraft item.
CLASS X CHILDREN’S CLASS
Award:
Class X Children’s Class – The Ken Blackman Cup
Comprises the following categories:
62. Nursery Class – up to 5 years old: paintings.
63. Children – 5-10 years old: Make a Vegetable Monster.
A prize of £5.00 is awarded to each Class X Winner

CLASS XI EGGS
Class XI Eggs – The Egg Cup
64. Three Hens eggs – any colour
Exhibits to be staged on a bed of rice on a paper plate. The Judge will break an egg when judging.
